Prolotherapy Regenerative Medicine
Prolotherapy is a powerful and effective form of regenerative medicine that treats musculoskeletal problems by using a series of injections. The soft tissue structures (especially the ligaments and fascia) that hold the skeleton together can become damaged from accident or injury, or by various repeated strains, or just through aging.
With prolotherapy, a solution is strategically injected into the probable damaged tissues so the healing process begins. With repeated injections, and some time (several weeks to months), the damaged area becomes stronger, less painful, less stiff, and generally more functional.
How Prolotherapy Works
Prolotherapy consists of injections of dextrose, anesthetic and/or platelet rich plasma (PRP) into injured ligaments, tendons and into joint space to promote the proliferation of new ligament or tendon tissue.
The injected solutions trigger a localized inflammatory response that stimulates the body’s natural healing process in order to strengthen weakened areas, improve function, and reduce pain.
The goal of Prolotherapy is to produce dense fibrous tissues, which strengthen the attachment of ligaments, tendons, joint capsules, and facial structures. By strengthening these areas, degenerative processes can be slowed down as new tissue is formed, and hypermobile ‘loose’ joints progressively stabilize.
Used For The Treatment Of These And Many Other Conditions:
- Tendon or Ligament Strains
- Tears Of Knees, Shoulders, Ankles, Hips And Spinal Injuries
- Chronic Sports Injuries
- Degenerative Joint Disease
- Osteoarthritic Pain
- Hypermobile Joints
